The 5 columns (what to fill in)

  1. Talent
Write one talent per row (verbs work best: explain, design, organize, connect, inspire).

  2. Current competencies (supporting skills you already have)
List the concrete skills, credentials, or proofs that already back that talent (e.g., coursework, research base, tool proficiency, portfolio pieces).

  3. Future competencies (skills to acquire next)
Name the 1–3 skills that would noticeably unlock that talent (e.g., public speaking, copyediting, facilitation, data storytelling).

  4. Today’s alignment % (Talent ↔ Current competencies)
Estimate the present fit between Column 1 and Column 2 (not counting future skills). Be honest—this number is your baseline.

  5. Life impact when aligned (financial, relational, spiritual, etc.)
Describe the outcomes you expect once talent + current + future competencies line up (e.g., new role, clearer offerings, better income stability, deeper relationships, more meaning).

Example:

Talent Current skills Future skills Today's Alignment Life impact when aligned
Inspire people to be their best through self-awareness and happiness science
Academic foundation; research-based knowledge and evidence
Communication skills (clear speaking/writing to transfer ideas)
~40–50% (strong knowledge, delivery needs work)
New programs and roles that didn’t exist before.

15-Minute Sprint: Fill it, then act

  1. Make 3 rows (your top three talents).

  2. Complete columns 2–5 quickly—no perfection.

  3. Circle one future competency per row that would unlock the most value.

  4. Design a tiny rep (≤10 min) for each circled skill and schedule it this week.

    • Communication → write a 4-step mini-script and record a 60-sec explainer.

    • Data storytelling → rebuild one slide with a single, decisive headline.

    • Facilitation → end a meeting with “who/what/when” in 60 seconds.

Why this works: you turn fuzzy strengths into a plan with baselines, bottlenecks, and visible next reps—so alignment (and opportunity) compounds.

Reflection

  • Which talent has the lowest current alignment but the highest potential impact?

  • What single competency, if trained for 10 minutes a day, would move that % fastest?

  • What proof will you ship this week (a clip, slide, SOP) to show the upgrade?
